Ground Protection Mat Hire
Ground Protection Mat: 2400 x 1200 13mm
Ground protection mats are so easy to use and will save you a heap of money by avoiding reinstatement costs and getting trucks.
During winter trucks and diggers will churn up grass and soil and create a huge mud mess. Sure you can use plywood but it just doesn't last and it ends up being expensive replacing the ply sheets. Plywood also gets very slippery once wet and muddy creating traction issues for both vehicles and pedestrians.
Common applications of truck mats:
- Temporary pedestrian access ways.
- Temporary roadway for vehicles.
- Surface protection when moving machinery or material over sensitive surfaces.
- Lay down areas for equipment or material.
- Temporary parking area.

Set Up Instructions
Easiest Method:
Unless the vehicles are traveling up or down a slope the mats generally stay where they are on the flat. Overlap the ends roughly 50 to 80mm to minimise the amount of mud that comes up between the mats. If the mats are moving around follow the instructions below to connect them together.
Below are some instructions for connecting together the ground protection mats:
- Step 1: Lay a mat down on the ground where your temporary roadway will start.
- Step 2: Insert one side of the connector into the holes located in the corners of the mat. If you're setting up two separate tracks (ie. a mat width each with a gap in the middle) use the single connectors, if you're setting up a double width track (ie. two mats connectors together like the photo below) use the double connectors along the middle join.
- Step 3: Place the second mats short edge up against the short edge of the mat already on the ground. Lift the second mat up to around a 45 to 60 degree angle and either support it with a stake or have someone hold it. Slip the connectors other side into the same holes on the second mat.
- Step 4: Lay the mat down on the ground. Repeat for however many mats you need to fit together to form your temporary roadway.
